xdm bug?
Hello,
I'm running OpenBSD 2.8 on PII 400Mhz IBM clone machine. The hostname is
kelvin.mee.ucsb.edu.
I don't know whether this is a bug in xdm or not. I started xdm but
"normal" user can't log into the system using the display
manager. However, root can log into the system without any problem. Here
is the syslog message:
Dec 11 14:03:56 kelvin syslogd: /dev/:0: No such file or directory
This message is created when normal user attempts to log into the system
at the console while xdm is running. Is my configuration wrong or
xdm has a bug? I've been searching for a solution from the internet
and from other sysadmin but no luck. To troubleshoot and test, I gave the
/dev directory full permission to everyone, but normal user can't log
into the system at the console using the display manager with the
new permission change. Please advice. Thanks.
