Hi,
I've d/l OpenBSD 3.0 from snapshots/sparc64 (dated 17th Oct) and tried
several installs on a Sun Sparc Ultra1 machine.
Basically what happens is, machine boots of floppy ok, and the install
process goes normally. When the "congratulations" message appears saying to
type halt to reboot - I've rebooted.
Upon reboot the machine appears to boot normally and you can see the kernel
loading and probing the various devices until it gets to:
....
SUNW,bpp at sbus0 slot 2 offset 0x0 vector 5 ipl 5 not configured
pcons at mainbus0 not configured
root on sda0
rootdev=0x700 rrootdev=0x1100 rawdev=0x1102
Then it simply hangs forever (I left it overnight).
The machine is a bog standard Ultra1 (not the Creator graphics one)
with 448Mb RAM. I've also switched HDs between a 2Gb and 4Gb one I have
so I know the fault isn't there. The machine installed sparclinux fine and
was running with no problem, but I'd rather have bsd :-)
Hoping someone can help.
Paul Gregg
