Appears to be a geometry mis-match between motherboard BIOS and Promise
PDC20268 BIOS.  The new boot blocks are geometry-independent, so
shouldn't have this problem.

In addition, the "hard hang" seen was intentional in the old boot
blocks; the new ones stop with interrupts enabled (so Ctrl-Alt-Del will
work).

Please feel free to re-submit if the problem still occurs in -current.
