>Release: OpenBSD 2.4/2.5
>Environment:
System : OpenBSD 2.5 / OpenBSD 2.4
Architecture: OpenBSD.i386
Machine : i386
>Description:
The [de] network driver has some problems with full-duplex
mode. At least with the network card I was using:
A recent Kingston KNE100 with a 21143 chip fabed by Intel.
Between Firewall and internal Router (both OpenBSD boxes)
I use a crossed patch cable. The two machines are
able to communicate with each other but performance
is very slow (limited to 100kb/s with ftp). With netstat
every output packet is also marked as error (on both
sides).
Thinks worked fine (up to 2500kb/s) with a hub in between.
It did not help to specify media options with ifconfig
(seemed to be ignored).
I tested everything with OpenBSD 2.4 and 2.5.
>How-To-Repeat:
Connect two computers with a crossed patch cable. Test
troughput with ftp.
>Fix:
I changed network cards and everything works fine now (Intel
EtherExpress/100+)
