rdr problems

here's a puzzler (for me at least) .. i have smtp, pop3 and www redirected
through my openbsd 2.6 firewall to an internal server. i'm trying to
redirect port 1022 (or any other port other than 22) into the ssh port of
said internal server .. ipnat doesn't complain .. but when i attempt a
connection, it hangs. i can't see anything in ipnat -l and i never see any
traffic on the internal server. i've tried using ports that are in the 1 ->
1024 (reserved) block, but i get the same results.

any help would be appreciated.
