Problem with D-Link DFE-530TX

I cant get my new D-Link DFE-530TX to work.
I get a autodetect ok. (10Mbit half-duplex.)
but shortly after complains about

vr0: watchdog timeout.

I fo have a link on the connection, and I have tried to switch
cable. I have D-LINK 530-TX on my other two computers too, and it works
on them (but they ar running inferois OSes such as Win98)

Do you have any ideas how I can figure out what is wrong.
What logs if any are of interest?

I am quite at home in unixes as such, since I am admining serveral
at work, but they are solarises, not open/free bsds.
