Kernel Compile

Hello again all.....

Well, I updated my src tree via CVS, and edited JOHNC a copy of GENERIC and
added NMBCLUSTERS=8192

I compiled the kernel, and put it to use, and my packet forwarding stopped.

I then went in and uncommented the GATEWAY option in the GENERIC file that
JOHNC includes.  I then recompiled and the same thing happened.

I'm using the stock installed kernel. I installed via FTP.  With this, my
firewall works perfectly.  What are the differences that I'm missing between
the GENERIC config  file in the src directory and the currently installed
kernel?

Is there a config option to see what options the current kernel is using?
