named cant find /var/named on boot?

Hi,

when booting my server named allways fails with:

named[11954]: can't change directory to /var/named: No such file or
directory

I did a default installation as described in the
man pages etc. (or even i think so)
The directory /var/named does exist.
However, if i start named manually it works fine.
It just fails when (re)booting the system.

My rc.conf:

named_flags=""          # for normal use: ""
named_user=named                # Named should not run as root unless
neccesary
named_chroot=/var/named         # Where to chroot named if not empty

Any clue for me what could be wrong?
