You can get them for a lot less than that; a fellow I know has 
several, and I think they cost him (each) less than what the system 
on eBay is going for, and I think his were 96-vintage (sorry - don't 
know a lot about the Crays - when I get one to play with myself, I'll 
be able to speak more knowledgeably on the topic.)   His electric 
bill is non-trivial, though.

The thing is that the Cray will probably already run OpenBSD; the 
controller boards are Sparc 5's, I seem to recall.  Making it 
completely functional (i.e.: doing something other than booting the 
controller board) is I'm sure a completely different and 
non-rewarding story.
