I got it to work using static libraries (at least, static libsp).

I don't know why it doesn't work with dynamic libraries, but I
suspect it has to do with some interaction of OpenBSD/i386 linkage
(for that's the platform I use it on) and the way C++ constructors
work.

Besides now, the ports collection has just dumped jade in favour
of openjade. I wonder how well that works.
