Urgency: machine hosed

Hello,

I just hosed a machine... doing a build on -current another user wanted
to run X and use emacs. The result was a complete freeze of the box,
no error messages logged. Then i said the user should stay off the box
and restarted the build process, but the machine froze hard again.

Unfortunately the user must have this box back soon, and me too 8((

How can I repair it quickly w/o throwing away everything i did so far?

The problem is that the build process crashed somewhere while compiling
libs, so I guess there are several libs shot dead. Only a guess, though,
at this moment... On the console the machine shows
"panic in sched_sync: fsync failed", then the ddb prompt (how to use that?).

FWIW, I have this cron job running on all my machines:

*/5 * * * * nobody /bin/sync

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Best Regards,
