Problem with freeBSD emulation

Hi,
  I've been trying to get some FreeBSD binaries to work on my OpenBSD
2.7 system
and I have some questions.  I read through the man pages and they even
say that they
are outdated.  My biggest question is how would I install the stuff to
emulate?  I understand
that everything must go in /emul/freebsd/...  but if I where to get a
package and install it
or get the source and compile it won't they install to the default paths
of  the / file system?

  Does anyone have any experience with this stuff?  If so could you
please advise me of
what to do or where to get more info on this subject?  Thanks everyone!!
