Snapshots are *NOT* guaranteed to do anything.  It takes time and effort to
build a snapshot for the distribution or X, and because some stuff is not
finished for the next X snapshot, nobody is going to build a new one until
the artwork is finished.

It is very easy to fix the snapshot by doing

ln -s /usr/lib/libcurses.so.8.0 /usr/lib/libcurses.so.7.1 

to work around this (not the best way to do it, but it works), or you could
even get the xterm sources and build it if you wanted to make sure you had
the real deal.

In any event, this bug is noted, and at the next X snapshot it will not
occur, it is simply a build timing issue.
