I have a Netgear FA140TXC in a Toshiba laptop which runs debian linux
at the moment. The FA140TXC is in the SUPPORTED.CARDS list for the linux
pcmcia package, but to actually get the thing to work the card needed the
extra kick from a small snipped called fa_select, written by I forget who
on the linux pcmcia mailing list. without a proper fa_select after
loading the module, the card behaved as you describe. it's possible
that porting fa_select to OpenBSD or creating a similar program will
solve the problem.
