Nothing strange about it.
Once in a blue moon, people who write ports err, and you get mangled
packing-lists. More frequently, users start deleting files under /usr/local,
without checking what's in /var/db. Then pkg_delete screams murder, as it
can't find what it knows is installed...
Fortunately for you, pkg_delete only complains that something was not quite
right, most of the time, but still runs the delete to completion.
Hence the behavior you saw.
