i don't know the answer to your question.
however, i recommend looking into a recent post on the gnupg-users
mailing list by Werner Koch concerning the merit of using "wiping"
utilities.
it's dated 2000-10-31 and the subject is:
"Re: How do I do "wipe" in WinNT"
even though the subject refers to Windows NT, i believe the content is
generally applicable -- and i'd be quite interested in knowing whether
it doesn't apply to OpenBSD.
