I really need to take a look at this again.  Earlier this year, it
was more than a little hitch.

Yeah, if you get it going for one BSD adapting it to another one
should be simple.  Creating a port for ksh93 is something I have
on my lists of "things I eventually ought to do".

FWIW, this and various other ksh93 features has made its way into
bash.
