Though I'm not even sure of the program, or if this is correct. I believe it
can be done that way because it sends it the ICMP echo request. If it gets one
back then it's still up. If it ever sends one and there is no reply, then it's
down. Thus you could go down between the requests and come back up before the
next one and they wouldn't know the difference.
