G4 Installer Panics At gm0: invalid irq

Hi, all,

I'm trying to install OpenBSD 2.8 from CD on a PowerMac G4. No matter what I have tried thus far, installation proceeds smoothly until I get to the ethernet controller, at which point the kernel panics and responds with:

gm0 at pci3 dev 15 function 0 "Apple GMAC" rev 0x00panic: invalid irq
Stopped at 0x26f110: tw 0, r2, r2

(The "0x26f110" is different depending on whether I use the /bsd or
/bsd.rd kernel.)

I have tried installation files from two sources:

    ftp://ftp.openbsd.org/pub/OpenBSD/snapshots/powerpc/
        -- and --
    ftp://ftp.openbsd.org/pub/OpenBSD/2.8/powerpc/

I've tried each installation set with two different OpenFirmware 2.4f1 boot-device variables...

    setenv boot-device cd:,ofwboot /bsd.rd
        -- and --
    setenv boot-device cd:,ofwboot /bsd

Regardless, the kernel always panics at gm0.

Is this in fact a problem with the irq for gm0, or is it related to whatever follows gm0 in the boot sequence? Has anyone else encountered this problem? If so, was there a remedy?

I am eager to put OpenBSD on our G4, as I have with our PC boxen, but this is a major obstacle. Thanks in advance for everyone's time and attention.
