Webgear: "ifconfig ray0 nwid HOME" gives "SIOCS80211NWID invalid argument"

Can anyone advise of the correct syntax needed to set the network ID on a
Webgear card?

# ifconfig ray0 inet 192.168.0.100 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.0.255  nwid HOME
ifconfig: SIOCS80211NWID: Invalid argument

# ifconfig ray0
ray0: flags=8843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
        nwid NETWORK_NAME
        media: IEEE802.11 FH2 adhoc
        status: active
        inet6 fe80::200:8fff:fe48:3d7b%ray0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x3
        inet 192.168.0.100 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.0.255

Even though it gives the error, the other settings are applied.

The card is detected as follows:

ray0 at pcmcia0 function 0 "WebGear, PC Card WLAN Adapter, Version 4.88 Jan 1999"
ray0: firmware version 85
ray0: 802.11 address 00:00:8f:48:3d:7b

Thanks,
