Internet setup backfired

Greetings to those who know more than i,
When trying to setup my OpenBSD box for an internet connection, i
noticed the following went completely wrong; I'm able to ping my own
IP (ie. I can sorta guess this means there's no problem with the
3c509b NIC) but when pinging anything else on my network (as an
example.. hm.. my Gateway? ) i get a "Host is down" error. Obviously i
am unable to ping anything outside of my network; i get a "No route to
host" error. What i've setup so far is as follows: The gateway in
/etc/mygate , the default gateway in the routing table (although its a
bit screwed up : it has one entry as "default : default" and another
as "default : 212.17.64.1" ) , the DNS servers in /etc/resolv.conf
(irrelevant at this point though), my local information in
etc/hostname.ep0 (and hostname.ep1 although it theoretically shouldn't
really exist... theoretically ;)) , in otherwords : just about all
files that the "FAQ (6) Networking" told me to set up. The settings
are exactly (*exactly*) the same as those that windows shows me...
unless windows is lying ... and windows seems to get along with the
settings quite happily. OpenBSD , on the otherhand, seems to bite me
whenever i try accessing the internet to any extent. I can give any
output needed, upon request, but as you see my problem could occur
anywhere so it might not be necessarry for me to post 'everything'
right here - including ifconfig output, routing table, netstart
results, etc.
     Thanks again,
        -Brian
