changing mtu settings

Hi all,

My pppoe connection is running somewhere around 1400
mtu...

I have a separate obsd box as my dsl gateway.  I want
to change the mtu on my ne3 interface on a client box.
 How do I do this.  man ifconfig, and a few others
don't give any answer.  I can't find any docs on this
on the internet either.  Any hints?  Thanks...
