Heh, you don't want to pay for the (BTW quite good) 
Sybase database, but still expect support from them?

As for libraries, have you tried http://www.freeTDS.org ?

PS: BTW there is an older Sybase database - free for
    commercial (!) usage at http://linux.sybase.com
     
    I wonder if someone been able to run it at OpenBSD
