Thanks for the help so far.

Cabling is fine. 
test net passes on the 10baseT connection.
MAC address appears to be valid (not one of the bad ones mentioned in
the NVRAM HostID FAQ)

This interface worked when the machine ran Solaris. The machine has
been decommissioned for about 4 months. 

I rebuilt the boot floppy, and the machine still doesn't actually chat
on the network any. 

Any more insight anyone can provide?
