I am new to the Unix/Linux/OBSD world. I
have installed and been playing around with OBSD and really like it so far. But
here is what I want to do and need help, a lot of help with. I want to break it
down into stages so you can see where I am going, but I want to concentrate on
the first stage before I move on.
Stage 1,
a) Configure OBSD to
dial into my ISP
b) Login
automatically
c) Reconnect when
disconnected.
Stage 2,
a) I have a static IP
from my ISP. I want to use there DNS, but have my OBSD box act as a router
for my
internal network. I have also registered a domain name and
have it registered to my static IP with my ISP.
b) Have it do all my
resolving for my internal network.
Stage 3,
a) Install, configure a
firewall (IPFiler maybe?)
b) Configure it so it
only accepts connections from certain IPs.
Stage 4,
a) Install a caching
server (only have a 56k connection) like squid, so all my machine can use common
sites.
If you feel you can help me and keep it
in relatively simple terms I'd really appreciate it. At the moment I am most
interested in stage one. Keep in mind that I have never done anything like this
before?
Thanks in advance for any and all
help.
Mike
