Kernel won't compile

I recently built a new i386 2.8 box, loaded the 2.8 patches and customized
my kernel.  Now when I go to build the new kernel I'm getting the following:

/usr/src/sys/lib/libkern/strlcat.c:125:redefinition of 'strlcat
/usr/src/sys/lib/libkern/strlcat.c:49: 'strlcat' previously defnined here

***Error code 1
Stop in /usr/src/sys/lib/libkern

Thinking I had dorked up the new kernel when I modified it, I tried
compiling GENERIC, but I'm getting the same error.

Any pointers would be appreciated.
