Abort trap? huh?

Where do you even start, when you get an "Abort trap" error like this?

bash-2.04$ uncompress install-mck-3.2.0.6-i386-pc-freebsdelf4.0.Z
bash-2.04$ ./install-mck-3.2.0.6-i386-pc-freebsdelf4.0
Abort trap
bash-2.04$

I'm trying to get CyberCash (merchant connection kit) to work on
OpenBSD. I've used in on Linux successfully for years, and usually when
you do the ./install-* it runs through the license and you hit OK, and it
makes a directory with the ./configure stuff inside.

I tried the above uncompress, ./install on the FreeBSD version, the Linux
version, and the BSDI version. All gave the same "Abort trap" error,
though the same binaries work on Linux.

Any clues where/how to start debugging it?

(CyberCash is no help. They don't care.)
