You're probably running a custom kernel with i586 or i686 CPU classes
only, and there was a compiler bug which caused this (optimization flag
passed somewhere around the tree).  It is fixed, so you can update again,
or just use GENERIC kernel (or add the other CPU classes to your custom
one).
