We almost exclusively use 3C09s in our network (with the exception of
our web servers), and I've not found any difference between setting
server and setting something else. I usually select server anyway,
just in case it does do something at the low level.
I'm more curious as to the purpose of setting the modem speed (not
that I've made any attempt to find out. I'm not that curious)... ;)
