As another datapoint: I've seen the same behaviour also on a Sparc IPX
(64MB) while installing 2.9 via NFS (10base2 connection to a fast
machine with 12/20x CD-ROM). Small files (<2MB went ok), anything
bigger and the stalling started. My impression was that it got worse
the bigger the files were and the further along the install within one
file was.
