I use Optimum Online in the NY/LI area. I found their DNS servers to be too
slow/overloaded for me so I setup dnscache. dnscache bypasses their DNS
servers for name resolution. It is included in ports. See this page for more

I'm trying to use dhclient with OptimumOnline (external cable modem
connects to my 3com card).  I'm able to establish a
connection, but no nameserver is provided and it seems like the gateway is
extraordinarily slow compared to my house-mate's win machine.  Any
suggestions?
