2.9-stable system freeze
Hi,
When I was working remotely on my system (a mysql
commandline session), it suddenly froze, more or
less.
I was working in a screen session. I still could
browse through the various screens, but all things
needing disk access seemed to (have) stop(ped)/
would not run.
Pinging the host still worked. The box is a NAT
gateway, that too worked.
At the console, Alt-F* still worked, but logging
in didn't.
No strange messages printed on the console either.
After a power cycle, things worked as usual. No
data loss or corrupt partitions, only two problems
with incorrect block count were salvaged (thanks
softupdates:)
I checked the logs (messages, authlog, daemon),
but nothing there to indicate any problem at all.
So I browsed through the mailinglist archives
and saw some other people with vague freeze ups,
etc rather similar to this case. But no solution
was ever presented. That's why I decided to mail
the problem to the list, perhaps someone can
extract some valuable info from it and other cases
and combine it to work out a solution.. maybe..
(nooit geschoten is altijd mis)
I ran OpenBSD 2.7 for almost a year flawlessly on
the very same hardware.
