PPP problems

Hello,

I'd be very grateful if someone can point me in the write direction with the following problem.

I'm trying to establish a connection to my ISP manually using PPP before I script it (I can't afford a cable modem!):


ppp <CR>
set device /dev/cua01<CR>
term<CR>

I then dial my ISP.
All is well and the ISP answers, but then I get the following error messages after entering username/password:

login:		...<CR>
Password:	...<CR>

Exiting shell, and starting PPP session.

The phone hangs up.
I've checked around and the only information I could find refers to a problem with arp cache - but I not sure how this helps or if it is related???


I would really appreciate any help.
