pysql and php4 install

Can anyone give me a quick and dirty overview to getting mysql and php4
running on a fresh 2.9 install?  I know I will need to install the mysql and
php4 packages, but I'm a bit confused as to what the best order to install
them is, I'm assuming mysql first, then php...
I am also unsure of what configuration steps need to be taken to get php,
mysql and apache to all work together.  Any pointers to web sites, man pages
greatly appreciated.
