1. Free telnet client that comes with Windows is unusable. Period.
2. The best SSH client for Windows is PuTTY and it's free. Commercial
SSH client from ssh.com can be used if you don't have putty, but it's
less convenient and should be used only if you need a graphical
replacement to scp - that feature is not present in PuTTY. Other SSH
clients - only if you like the alternative way of doing things.

I use WindowsNT as my main workstation for several years and tried a few
different telnet and lately SSH clients. I found that putty.exe, single
200k file, is the best for both telnet and SSH (in my opinion).
