Re: Memory fault during builds
Thanks for all your help guys.
I should have mentioned that the failure happens at the same place every
time I try and build that piece of code. Even if the machine has only just
been powered up. Matthew Closson has remarked that he has exactly the same
problem in the same place as well.
So it seems to be a problem which is only stimulated by a compiler or one of
the build tools and only by this piece of code. If Matthew were using a
similar machine to me I'd be thinking it was a processor bug.
This doesn't seem too unlikely as I should think it's fairly common for
compilers to use processor features that most application code doesn't
touch.
I'll try what you've suggested and let you know if you're interested. If it
doesn't work I'll go back to kde 2.2.1.
