Ah - this is more like it:

Feb 22 15:03:31 rack popa3d[27672]: getpwnam("popa3d"): No such user

This looks like it's trying to run as a user called popa3d, which doesn't
exist, as the message says. But the inetd.conf entry specifies it should run
as root, and the man pages don't suggest it runs as anything else - why is
it asking this? It's not an authentication thing as it hasn't even got that
far...
