Hi,
I'm putting together a firewall/NAT/DHCP machine for my apartment LAN, and
ran into a few set backs that I couldn't tackle w/ the help of Google or the
list archives.
First, the mouse doesn't work. It's attached, and the POST reports "Mouse
initialized", but I can't use it w/ wsmoused or X. Thinking it may be the
mouse or protocol, I've tried a variety of PS/2 / Intellimouses, and then
noticed that there was no mention of wsmouse, pms0, or psm0 in the dmesg.
Any ideas on how to proceed?
Second, the second NIC in the box doesn't work, and I just noticed in the
dmesg that the IRQ is being used (by the CD-ROM?) To fix that, can I just
scour the dmesg for unmentioned IRQs and pour over 3Com documentation (ISA
Etherlink III) on how to change the IRQ?
And finally... I couldn't find any good documentation on interpreting the
dmesg. I'm sure there's something out there, can someone point me in the
right direction?
Thanks,
matthew jenove
