i take it booting from the cdrom is not an option, nor is building your
own bootable cdrom image.

this does work, but i make no guantees that it won't screw up your system.

first, bring the system up in single user mode.

	boot> boot -s

dd if the cdrom30.fs boot image on to your swap partition.

	dd if=cdrom30.fs of=/dev/wd0b

of course, replace /dev/wd0b with your swap partition.

reboot.

when the loader comes up (the boot> prompt), make it load from the swap
partition.

	boot> boot hd0b:/bsd

boom. you have your openbsd installer. proceed for a "normal" upgrade as
if it were from the cdrom.
