There is a hardware IDE PCI raid card from Acard, about $150, but it's
Mac-specific, striping only so it's not much use for backup, and I don't
know if it works with OpenBSD (it's OF-based, so it might not be too hard to
get it to work). If you want speed though, it rocks!

I expect cards with RAID 1/5 etc. will become available, but the point about
backups needing to be in a different location is overriding - don't use RAID
for backup!
