Installation speed
Hi, I'm currently trying a networked installation
where I have three machines on a 10base2 LAN.
These three are all x86-32 (i386) PCs.
One is the router, that gives them IPv4 and IPv6
access to the internet.
One is a Pentium-75 notebook, my working machine.
It can download from ftp.openbsd.org as fast as
105 kB/sec.
The third I am trying to install the latest snapshot
to downloads (from the install disk) at about 10-20
kB/sec from the same server, given no networking traffic
from the notebook.
The MTU for ne3 and for the defaultroute are set to 1492,
as is for the defaultroute on the notebook.
So my question is, what makes it that slow?

Yes, I am root on my box, my friends' boxen and my mailgate.
And yes, I do know how to handle it. Yes, I know about kill-
rules, too. So WTF do you still bother filling my syslog?
