Marco gave (me? or to the whole list, can't remember) excellent advice on 
upgrading from 2.6 to 2.8 remote. And the mini-upgrade-faq did what it said on
the tin, sort of.

I got someone non-bsd'ish to reboot with bsd.old, so I'm back on the box again.

If I find out anything, I'll certainly post it here.
