a few questions for a newbie

I've been experimenting with anoncvs. Is getting ports.tar.gz via ftp the 
same thing as doing a "cvs -q get -P ports"?  Downloading ports.tar.gz and 
extracting it seemed faster than cvs -q get -P ports.

Do I have to cvs all of ports or can I select a particular directors like 
ports/net/samba?

Are programs in ports and packages auditted as well?

The disadvantage of packages is they don't take care of dependencies, am I 
right in this? [Yes/No]

Last question, I know in vi I can do a 5yy to cut 5 lines and do a p to 
paste it.  How do I cut a few lines from one file and paste it into another 
file?
