Restricting dates fails for me as well, at least on
http://www.monkey.org/cgi-bin/wilma/openbsd-misc

But give google a try:

Click on 'Advanced Group Search' for an example of how to fill the form.

Not all lists are archived, and it seems google get unsubscribed every
now and then and misses messages.
