help with CVS commands..

I have tried unsuccessfully to get CVS to work for an older date.

CVSROOT=anoncvs@anoncvs.ca.openbsd.org:/cvs

I am able to fully pull down the src tree, but I want to roll back to 
sometime around 03-23-02......

# cvs tag -D "2002-03-23 00:01" up -PAd src
cvs tag: cannot open CVS/Entries for reading: No such file or directory
cvs [tag aborted]: no repository

This has to be simple and I must be stupid.

All I want to do is get the src tree from a time frame as close to 03/23 as 
I can....

Help?
