For someone that has been around as long as you, I'm surprised to hear you
say that.  In some circles what the original poster did is considered rude.
Top-posting is rude, as is quoting the whole article verbatim, without
trimming things appropriately.

Than again, I suppose that I should count myself in among the "old" crowd
now wrt internet time...  I can still remember UUCP and usenet being useful.
