another wireless setup
Hiya,
What I'd like to do is have hardlinked LANs connected with two wireless
cards (PCI cards, PRISM2.5). I'd also like there to be a sort of wireless
LAN in between, (running dhcpd and bind as appropriate). That is, three
physical networks are connected in to one logical network (using
bridging/IP forwarding/whatever). These cards are going to be located in
two different buildlings (about 100ft. apart - yes I realize the security
issues involved, part of the point is to give community access to this
network).
Here's the problem I've run in to. If I try to put both cards in hostap
mode (so they both let clients connect), the cards use the same channel,
and don't seem to be able to talk to each other. I was thinking of putting
them on different channels, but then of course they wouldn't be able to
communicate with one another, in which case I'd need to buy a third
network card exclusively for data going from one wired line to the other.
Is there a more elegant way to do what I'm trying to do, without springing
for more hardware?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
Cheers,
