Strange SBUS SCSI/NIC problem.

I decided to put a Cycle 5 into service as a firewall/gateway and I'm
having a really strange problem with an SBUS scsi/nic combo card.

Basically the first ip I assign to it doesn't take yet all if I add an
alias to that same device it works fine.

cat /etc/hostname.le0
inet 192.168.0.1 255.255.255.0 NONE media autoselect
	inet alias 192.168.0.2

When I run netstart with this there is an ifconfig error of:
ifconfig: SIOCSIFMEDIA: Operation not supported. Sometimes I get the same
error except with "Device not configured".

Now I have another machine "behind this one" with an address of
192.168.0.23 and it can ping 192.168.0.2 fine but it cannot ping
192.168.0.1. Thinking it may be something stupid I recreated the
hostname.le1 file with a working hostname file from another machine but
still the first line is ALWAYS unreachable but all the aliases ARE.

Thinking it may be would be something I screwed up somewhere else I
did a clean install of 3.1 (was using 3.0 previously) and am still having
the same thing happen so my conclusion is either the NIC is messed up
(causing ifconfig to fail) or it must be something with this hostname
file.

dmesg reports the device is alright and nothing strange comes up.

Unfortunately I do not have another SBUS nic to determine it is just
hardware but is there anything else I should try to track down this
problem?
