Booting Tyan Thunder K7 with onboard SCSI (AIC-7899W)

Hello,

I am having a problem with booting a Tyan Thunder K7 with onboard SCSI
(S2462 UNG). Config includes 1 Athlon MP 1900+, 512 MB RAM and 1 9GB
U160 HD on the onboard SCSI Channel A.
With the onboard SCSI disabled during boot the system boots fine, as can
be seen in the dmesg below (I believe the "not configured" is due to the
"disable ahc").
With the onboard SCSI enabled the system hangs after detection of the
onboard SCSI controller. A verbose boot gives the following as the last
few lines of output:
<quote>
 >>> pcic probe returned 0
 >>> ahc probe won
ahc1 at pci0 dev 13 function 0 "Adaptec AIC-7899 U160" rev 0x01
</quote>

Something I noticed about this is that with all the dmesg's I have seen
for AIC-7899 controllers is that directly after the "rev 0x01" it should
print ": irq 5". Does this imply that I should try to look at changing
the IRQ of the controller? Especialy in combination with the "pcibios0:
bad IRQ table size" line in the dmesg?

Has anybody had success at using an Tyan Thunder K7 with onboard SCSI or
another AIC-7899W based controller? Any tips/pointers etc?

TIA,
Jochem
