Re: /etc/rc terminates abnormally
I could do an echo $? after each thing. I forgot to say that after
running /etc/rc and terminating abnormally the error code was 143.
However, I couldn't track exactly which program it was....
Right now I am powerless because I tried running /etc/rc and now I'm
locked out of the computer because I'm assuming that it killed sshd and
sshd didn't revive. I'll have to wait until I can get the machine fixed
(i'll have to ask my mom... umm yah!!!)
How would I use script to watch it?
I don't know how -stable it is because we used "out of the box" 3.0. I
was about to patch sshd but sshd didn't seem to be the problem at the
time.
Also, I'm thinking of upping to 3.1 (clean installation not an upgrade)
but i have a lot of web docs and stuff to clean and I just don't have
the time yet. Is there any noticeable difference between upgrading 3.0
to 3.1 and installing 3.1 fresh?

Try adding debug stuff to rc. Maybe echo $? to a log file after every
program start. Also, upgrade to 3.1 -- the problem might have been
fixed. Just watching the machine boot up will probably help the most --
maybe script(1) the install.
Speaking of upgrading... how -stable is it? Did you patch for the SSH
comprimise? This might be the source of the problems :)
